All Saints Church Tower

The church tower was built in 1659, replacing the original tower that had to be taken down after two extra bells and a lead roof were added which were too heavy for it!

It took 32 men, 110,000 bricks and 62 loads of sand to build. It now contains 8 bells, the heaviest of which (called the tenor) weighs 716kg – about the same as 25 children!
